At the end of our trip, cloudy Auckland felt like a strange dream. This winding drive through a city park that was thickly populated with sheep, fit right in.
A small, but determined, waterfall in Tongariro National Park
An unexpected rainbow along our drive - emerging from shadowy clouds to the left
I visited the Commonwealth of Dominica from February 8 to 20, 2015.
The Emerald Pool

Crashed Plane at Canefield
On my second morning in Dominica, I rode in with Mark, the owner of the charming hotel where I stayed for week 1 of my trip. As we pulled in to Canefield (Dominica's smaller airport) to refill gas canisters for his kitchen, we saw this unfortunate accident. No fatalities!
Coco Farine at Jungle Bay
What became my favorite breakfast on the trip - coco farine (cassava flour cooked like oatmeal in coconut milk) along with the best tropical fruits of the morning, plus raisins and toasted coconut. Really, the oatmeal of an alternate universe.
